Rooms per housekeeper calculator

A room quota is only as good as the minutes behind it. Enter your shift length, breaks, non-cleaning duties and cleaning times, and this returns the rooms one attendant can realistically finish — blended for your departure-to-stayover mix.

What is a rooms per housekeeper calculator?

A rooms per housekeeper calculator converts a hotel’s shift length and cleaning times into the number of rooms one room attendant can complete in a day. It subtracts breaks and non-cleaning duties to get productive minutes, blends departure and stayover cleaning times by the day’s room mix, and divides one by the other. The result is a property-specific quota rather than an industry rule of thumb.

Why quotas fail on the floor

Most quotas fail for three reasons: breaks and briefings are never deducted, stayovers and departures are counted as the same credit, and suites or deep cleans are folded into the average. Each one shifts the true workload onto whoever draws the heaviest floor, which shows up later as overtime and turnover rather than as a bad number.

Assumptions and limits

  • Suites and deep cleans are excluded. Blending them into an average overloads whoever draws that floor. Price them room by room in the staffing calculator.
  • Travel and cart time must be entered. They are not assumed; put them in the non-cleaning duties field or inside your minutes per room.
  • The quota is a plan, not a rule. Check it against your labor agreement, minimum-hours rules and any contractual room credit before you post it.
  • Verify with real timings. Use the task checklist to time rooms, then confirm the quota held with the productivity calculator.
